About this reference
1904, Louis Cartier granted the wish of the famous Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont: to be able to tell time while flying. The birth of one of the first ever wristwatches sealed the bonds of friendship between these two pioneers. The rounded angles of the dial, the seamless curve of the horns, and the exposed screws made for an iconic watch that would inspire countless reinterpretations. Santos-Dumont micro-rotor skeleton watch, large model, automatic mechanical movement 9629 MC. Steel case with black lacquer, beaded steel crown set with a sapphire cabochon, blued-steel sword-shaped hands, sapphire crystal and caseback, bridges covered in black lacquer. Black alligator leather strap with steel ardillon buckle. Second strap in dark gray alligator leather. Case dimensions: 43.5 mm x 31.4 mm, thickness: 8 mm. Movement dimensions: 23.2 mm, movement thickness: 4.4 mm, balance: 28,800 vibrations/hour, power reserve approx. 44 hours. Water-resistant up to 3 bar (approx. 30 meters/100 feet).
