About this reference
1904, Louis Cartier granted the wish of the famous Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont: to be able to tell time while flying. The birth of one of the first ever wristwatches sealed the bonds of friendship between these two pioneers. The rounded angles of the dial, the seamless curve of the horns, and the exposed screws made for an iconic watch that would inspire countless reinterpretations. Santos-Dumont micro-rotor skeleton watch, large model, automatic mechanical movement 9629 MC. 18K yellow gold (750/1000) case, beaded 18K yellow gold (750/1000) crown set with a sapphire cabochon, golden-finish sword-shaped hands, sapphire crystal and caseback, bridges covered in beige lacquer. Semi-matte dark gray alligator leather strap with 18K yellow gold (750/1000) ardillon buckle. Second strap in semi-matte brown alligator leather. Case dimensions: 43.5 mm x 31.4 mm, thickness: 8 mm. Movement dimensions: 23.2 mm, movement thickness: 4.4 mm, balance: 28,800 vibrations/hour, power reserve approx. 44 hours. Water-resistant up to 3 bar (approx. 30 meters/100 feet).
