About this reference
1904, Louis Cartier granted the wish of the famous Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont: to be able to tell time while flying. The birth of one of the first ever wristwatches sealed the bonds of friendship between these two pioneers. The rounded angles of the dial, the seamless curve of the horns, and the exposed screws made for an iconic watch that would inspire countless reinterpretations. Santos watch, large model, Manufacture chronograph mechanical movement with automatic winding, caliber 1904-CH MC. 18K yellow gold (750/1000) case, 7-sided crown set with a faceted sapphire, alternating satin- and sunray-finish dial, black steel sword-shaped hands with Super-LumiNova®, sapphire crystal. 18K yellow gold (750/1000) bracelet with SmartLink™ adjustment system. Second semi-matte dark gray alligator leather strap with 18K yellow gold (750/1000) interchangeable deployant buckle. Both straps are fitted with the QuickSwitch™ interchangeable system. Case dimensions: 47 mm x 39.8 mm. Thickness: 11.6 mm. Water-resistant up to 10 bar (approx. 100 meters/330 feet).
